Porsche began offering the M491 option (also called the wide body or Turbo Look) on the 3.2 Carrera in 1984. It remained an option from 84 to 89. The 87-89 models have the desirable G50 transmission. The M491 option is much more than just wider fenders. You get all of the benefits of the Turbo matched with the highly reliable, less complex and easier to maintain 3.2 liter flat six engine.
 
The M491 option included:

-Turbo performance suspension system
-Turbo brakes with 285 mm cross-drilled discs and four-piston aluminum calipers with PORSCHE script
